Homemade Bread Rolls

I know a few people who grew up baking bread with their mums, it was their favorite past time – Spending time with mum in the kitchen putting dinner together. Unfortunately, i’m not one of such people, I’m not sure my mum ever baked bread and we certainly didn’t have bread rolls with dinner! In the home where i grew up, when we got to a certain age, my sisters and I took care of dinner on mum’s orders, she would be in the kitchen with us giving out instructions but wouldn’t touch a thing. If you complained that you weren’t sure of how to make a particular thing (after a few times of her showing you), she would say, make it however you remember and that’s how we’re all going to eat it. It’s safe to say this is how we learnt how to cook, by trying and trying, practices makes perfect they say, or at least close.

It took me a long time to learn to make bread rolls, when i go out to eat, some restaurants serve you bread rolls before your meal arrives. I would tuck into the bread basket as soon as it hit the table. Multigrain bread, rye bread, artisan bread, all sorts and so i got curious, i wanted to be able to make my own bread so i can enjoy it whenever not just when i eat out. So i tried all kinds of recipes, some were okay and some i tweaked till it was right for me and that’s how i ended up with this delicious and fluffy bread roll that’s perfect for every hour of the day.

1 1/4 Cups Warm Water

4. Using a dough cutter, divide dough into 15 pieces.
5. Spray a baking tin with oil or grease with butter.

7. Place the rounded out dough in the baking tin one after another leaving half a centimeter space between each one.
8. Cover baking tin with a damp cloth and allow dough rise for 20 minutes.
9. Preheat over to 190 degrees Celsius.
